Additional Details about Volunteers
We strongly recommend bringing your own vehicle as we are
30 miles from town, and there are no transportation services.
For those without a vehicle, we can pick you up at the airport
or bus station. A vehicle, however, has many advantages. We
are located in the rolling foothills of the southern Black
Hills. There is much to see and do here. We are within 10 to
40 miles from many outstanding places to explore such as Mt.
Rushmore National Monument, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave
National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, Crazy Horse
Monument, the Mammoth Excavations, many hiking trails, etc. We
are within 2½ hours of Devil’s Tower National Monument, and
1½ hours from Spearfish Canyon and the Badlands National Park.
There are also walking and hiking opportunities on campus and
adjacent to campus.
