What To Expect - Meals

Here at BHHEC we believe that many of the diseases that people suffer from are caused by wrong habits of eating. So one of our main focuses is to teach people a healthy way of eating. Guests participate in the meal preparation and learn how to make their own delicious and nutritious meals when they get home. You will have plenty of one-on-one time with our Food Service Director where they will be sharing all the skills necessary to prepare timely, healthy meals from scratch.

Early in their stay guests will also consult with the dietician, and their special dietary needs will be assessed. Then the kitchen meets those needs with tasty, nutritious, home-style cooking, featuring: fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts
and seeds. Many of the vegetables that guests consume come fresh from our very own garden, “Battle Creek Gardens,” where we are growing over 80 different varieties of nutrient rich vegetables and herbs this year.

What To Expect - Activities

Every day there is something new at BHHEC, but this is what a normal day might look like:

  • We begin early in the morning with the "Thought for the Day" that gives you encouragement to face a new day. This is followed by a stretching session to prepare you for the physical part of the daily program.
  • You might enjoy an energizing walk in the surrounding forest. Then we get together for a great breakfast.
  • One of our physicians will then give a health lecture to help you understand how your body works.
  • Next it's off to the fitness room for your personal training session.
  • You will receive either a relaxing massage or hydrotherapy treatment five times per week given by one of our qualified therapists.
  • You will have a hands-on experience cooking with our Food Service Director. Enjoy the fruits of your labor with a hearty, healthy, and refreshing dinner.
  • Lecture follows dinner with a motivating talk on how to take care of your body.
  • Then after another interesting lecture, it is free time and off to bed.

Did you know that regaining your health could be so much fun?
