Hello,
When I was tested 6 mo ago I had a fasting blood sugar of 110.
I always have had symptoms for low blood sugar but just about that same time I developed crippling pain in my muscles and just recently was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
My doctor also discovered prolactinemia and she is treating that w/ bromocriptine.
I have cheated in my diet somewhat (especially with sugar) but I've attempted to eat mainly organic, with no starch and whole wheat. I do my best to avoid corn syrup and almost never touch soda. My BMI is normal and I'm a vegetarian. Anyway, my fasting blood sugar is now consistently in the 130-140 range!
What can I do? and does anyone know if the insulin problem may be related to something else, especially since I'm having other medical issues? My doctor seems to ignore my headaches, dizziness, muscle and joint pain etc. by saying it's most likely fibro (this was before my diagnosis) but I feel like they have to be related somehow. It's just too coincidental. I have no diabetes in my family and no risk factors.
Anyone else have similar experiences or any insights?
thanks

Hello Gena,
Here's just a quick reply to your question. Blood sugar disorders are becoming increasingly common. It is also very complicated. One thing I would incourage you to do is read & study. One very good book that explains things is called, "Diabetes & the Hypoglycemic Syndrome", by Drs. Agatha M. & Calvin L. Thrash. New things have been discovered concerning the proper diet of those with diabetes or those just developing the symptoms. I hope you can get this book & learn how you can control your blood sugar levels without using drugs.

Hi Gena,
Not using nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant) can be most helpful for muscle pain. Also drink 2-3 quarts of water a day between meals (no sodas) and walk 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a day is helpful.
