Salutations brothers and sisters.
My reason for registering was I thought I might be able to send an email to Dick Nunez through the website. I want to let him know how much I enjoy his TV workout sessions on 3ABN. I'm a 61yo former regular gym visitor who had to suspend my membership a few months ago when I overdid the weights and popped an inguinal hernia. Now I'm waiting for an operation which is likely to be another 6 months off and I've been putting on a bit of fat around the waist.
I've recently started cautiously working out with Dick and Jonathon and Brittney et al and it's really helping me deal with this less active lifestyle.
If anyone who reads this comes in contact with Dick would you please send him my appreciation and love. It's obvious he's a God-loving spirit-filled man and a great motivator. I may just cancel my gym membership permanently and rely on TV workouts and the occasional bike ride to keep in reasonable shape from now on.
And Dick I especially liked this morning's session - the high-intensity workout with the 20 second pushups and squats, followed by aerobics with ski jumping and jogging, and a one minute sprint at the end. We were all panting after that.
I've come to really like his shoulder workout too; I can now hold my arms out for two and a half minutes at the end of it. When I started I was flat out making 15 seconds.
Could we do the hi-intensity routine more often on 3ABN please?
Actually since I've stopped going to the gym 3 times a week I've got a lot more time for other important things in my life - I've recently started studying for literature evangelism, and I've taken on a few more jobs in the Church this year.
Going to the gym meant driving for an hour to get there and home again - I live in a remote rural area - and exercising at home has a number of advantages.
So maybe God's got a new plan for me which factors in this new streamlined exercise program.

G'day Anthony!
Glad to hear from down under. It is great to hear that you have found the exercise program by Dick and his gang to be such a blessing to you. Dick will be glad to hear this and we'll see if we can get him to come on the forum and respond to you himself. This is the last week of a two week break and I am not sure if he is on campus or not as I am traveling myself.
Whereabouts in the great land down under are you living? I have a good friend that lives near Avondale.

Thanks Jack - no I'm nowhere near Avondale. I live in Kunghur in NSW up near the Qld border. It's a rural area to the west of and half an hour's drive from Murwillumbah.
One of the things I especially like about Dick is the information he gives, and often it's info even highly credentialled medical people like Dr Neil Nedley and Dr John McDougall don't seem to be aware of. What Dick says about cholesterol and its role in the body is a breath of fresh air. Just yesterday I heard Dr Agatha Thrash saying we need to get tough on cholesterol. They regard it as the cause of atherosclerosis, when in fact it's often a truly helpful warning sign that oxidative damage has occurred and is being repaired. It's like blaming the firemen for all the fires because we always see them about whenever there's a fire. (I read that on a website somewhere.)
Jack is it possible to get transcripts of Dick's information?
He was talking a couple of days ago about how dietary fat increases cholesterol production through bile manufacture. I tuned in late and missed a lot of what he said. Has he written any papers or maybe a book on nutrition?
I'm also interested in what he has to say about the protein content of vegetables. My ex-wife is always trying to increase our 10yo vegetarian son's protein intake, with eggs and protein powder. (She's not a Christian and doesn't believe in the Bible's dietary guidelines.) I heard Dick say this morning that broccoli has the highest protein content of any food - 37%. Does he mean as a percentage of calories?

Hello Anthony, I am humbled by your kind words. I am thankful "Body & Spirit" has been a blessing to you. I am sorry to hear of your hernia. I am sure that is uncomfortable and inconvenient. 3ABN dictates my schedule, but if I do go back, I will do some more high-intensity programs.
Blessings,
Dick

If you do I'll probably catch them Dick. We get your 1st program for the day at 7am over here and it's a fixture for me now.
The hernia is not bothering me much at all as far as physical discomfort goes. It's just meant a big change in my activity level but I've found an outlet in studying for literature evangelism, and prayer too. This has been a great help for me. I recently found out my operation is scheduled for September this year - I was originally told to expect to wait at least 6 months and possibly 12. The surgeon put me on a high priority list, praise God. So I'm very happy about that.
Thanks again Dick; I look forward to working out with you tomorrow morning.
Anthony
