Elaine,

The best natural way to deal with thrombophlebitis are two approaches:
a) avoid as much as possible the things that predispose - set you up for thrombophlebitis. These things include:
1. Dehydration - drinking tea or coffee or sodas which have a diuretic and actually dehydrate instead of hydrating you. The best way to replenish your body water needs is with water. Eight 1 cup or 8 ounce glasses a water a day may be the most important thing that can be done to treat and to prevent thrombophlebitis.
2. Inactivity. Being a couch potato makes your blood flow sluggishly and set you up for a clot. Exercise - move it and keep it moving is the way to avoid blood clots.
3. Things that make your blood sticky - sugar and alcohol are the two most common offenders in this department. There are some drugs - particularly hormones that can do the same thing.

b) Do things that make your blood naturally thinner. These include:
1. Water! Drink 8 - 10 cups of water a day and enjoy it and feel better!
2. Exercise! Your heart only pumps blood away from your heart. It is your other muscles using the valves in the veins that pumps blood to your heart. Without exercise your blood circulation will be slower and more prone to clotting.
3. Eat or drink the natural blood thinners. These include onions, garlic, all the greens, and purple grape juice - or purple grapes. 8 ounces of purple grape juice has been shown to thin your blood equivalent to an aspirin a day.

Trust this has helped you and answered your question.

Blessings,

Laughing
