Art Garner, DDS - General Manager

Dick NunezArt Garner was born in Mussoorie, India, the son of missionary parents. He attended Walla Walla College and received a BS degree in chemistry in 1957. He then went to dental school at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. While at Loma Linda he received a DDS degree in dentistry, practiced in Alberta, Canada for four years and then accepted a call to go into mission work in Pakistan, where he served for eight years with his wife Betty, whom he married in 1956. Art and Betty had three boys, Maurice, Gordon, and Kent.

After serving in Pakistan, the Garners were transferred to Guam in 1972, where Art was Clinic Director for the Dental Department for ten years. He was Associate Director of Health for the Far Eastern Division for dentistry from 1979 to 1982, serving 42 dental clinics. Then, in 1982, Art accepted a call to teach in the School of Dentistry at Loma Linda University. He retired in 1994 from the School of Dentistry and opened a private practice in Covalo, California. In 1999, he retired from dentistry, at which time the Garners sold their house and the practice, and moved to South Dakota. In 2002, the Garners accepted a temporary job of managing the Black Hills Health & Education Center. Five years later, the Garners are still temping. Art acts in the capacity of General Manager.

In his spare time, Art enjoys listening to and playing organ music.
